Momentum
Sometimes the fall
isn’t the end,
just a new way down,
or maybe up.
A flight that only starts
because I had the guts to drop,
because the ground said no,
because levity had the last word
and you lost the bet.
The trick isn’t in dodging it,
or flailing,
or bargaining with the wind.
It’s in knowing,
the fall was always
part of the ascent.
Despite any disbelief
from others,
or yourself.
Falling, grinning, knowing,
the view on the way down
is what lifts us back up.
